ABOUT US

Vision Document (Centres) (2).png

Motto: लोकशासनं सर्वोत्तमम् / Good governance above all

Governance in India is not just a process. It is an everyday reality.
In a democracy as vast, diverse, and dynamic as ours, Good governance above all is not merely a motto, but a national necessity. At the Governance and Public Policy Research Centre, a strategic sub-entity of The Indian Netizens, we believe that governance must be participatory, policy must be rooted in people’s needs, and every citizen must feel the pulse of progress.

From Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s era of transparency and digital governance, and today, to Janbhagidari-driven public policy under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, India’s governance model has constantly evolved adapting to scale, complexity, and aspirations. This Centre was founded to study that evolution in real-time and contribute to it meaningfully.

We are not just observers; we are contributors to the intellectual capital that drives better governance. We harness India’s youthful energy, digital transformation, and constitutional ethos to reimagine how government systems, policies, and institutions can deliver more, and do better for everyone.

Whether it’s policy innovation, delivery mechanisms, decentralised governance, or bureaucratic reform, our goal is simple yet bold: to strengthen India’s governance ecosystem by deepening public understanding, analysing impact, and proposing future-ready models. We study what governs India and how India must govern.

WHAT WE COVER

Vision Document (Centres) (2).png

More Than a Centre. A Movement.

At the Governance and Public Policy Research Centre, we engage in in-depth research and policy analysis across a wide canvas of India’s governance and administrative systems. We examine the intricate workings of public institutions, assess policy-making and implementation, and trace the journey of reforms from intent to grassroots impact.

We analyse the Centre-State dynamics, decentralisation, and the role of local governance bodies like Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal Corporations. The Centre also studies administrative reforms, bureaucratic structures, civil service performance, and the challenges of delivery mechanisms in rural and urban areas.

Our work extends into Janbhagidari (people’s participation), e-governance and digital inclusion, government schemes, RTI, social audits, and mechanisms to ensure accountability and transparency. We also focus on the role of data in policymaking, innovations in governance, and performance-based policy delivery models.

Simultaneously, we explore emerging domains such as policy entrepreneurship, governance of frontier technologies (AI, fintech, etc.), urban development policy, and regulatory governance. All with a commitment to help create a citizen-centric, efficient, and responsive Indian state. This is the Centre where India’s policy dreams meet pragmatic design, and where governance is imagined not just as administration but as aspiration in action.
